Set behind the kitchen and to the right of the staircase, you’ll find the cosy living area. With exposed brick walls and a sofa, this space feels snug and welcoming. A home from home, you can cuddle up on the corner sofa with your loved ones and enjoy quality time together. There is a 43" Smart TV so you can keep on top of your favourite shows during your stay and also a smart speaker.

You’ll enjoy your nights sleep at Brunswick Cottage as the double bed boasts the finest quality bedding and linens. Ideal for lazy mornings, switch on the wall mounted TV to watch Freeview channels.

With white tiles and chrome throughout, the first bathroom is an ultra clean and modern space. It boasts a large walk in shower, WC and basin.

Take the stairs up the second floor to find the second bedroom, bathroom and top landing space. The second bedroom has a traditional cottage feel with sloped ceilings, stained glass features and a window looking out the quiet street below. The comfy double bed has plush bedding and crisp linens. There is ample storage space as the room has matching chests of drawers, bedside tables and hooks with hangers.

The second bathroom is located off the top landing space. With sloped ceilings and a huge velux window, the top landing is the perfect place to relax. Retreat up here and lose track of time watching the sky above.

From here, you step up into the second bathroom. This space features a bathtub, handheld shower, WC and basin. There is a skylight window in the sloped ceiling giving you the perfect view of the clouds and stars above.

Well equipped cottage . Generally very clean bedding and towels good quality and very clean. Kitchen ideal for someone wanting to selfcater, although we did not utilise , chose to eat out, as just short stay <br/> <br/>I have been visiting staithes for many years and this cottage was the best presented one . Lounge area comfy.<br/><br/>Shower room grouting around tiles need a deepclean. loading, unloading bit difficult, due to cars parked outside

The bedrooms where large and each bedroom had its own bathroom which was great. Plenty of facilities to use and for a short stay, the property is has everything you need.<br/><br/>There was no wifi or mobile service at the property and there was a foul smell coming from the courtyard to the side of the property. This smell unfortunately did impact our stay as it meant we could not be in the sitting room for long periods of time, as the smell was extremely strong and smelt of sewage.

On first impression, the property was nice and clean, apart from a strong sewage smell throughout the property. The front door did not unlock from the inside meaning we were locked in. We were not told about this fault beforehand therefore we were stuck. However after reporting this to the company they promptly sent out a locksmith to replace the locks. The bathroom smell was not good as there was clearly something wrong with the pipes. <br>Apart from those couple of things the property was perfect.

. Home from home feeling the kitchen has high standard appliances washing machine dish washer and american style tall fridge freezer ect ect 2 bathroom which was helpful beds very comfortable had a bench on front to sits watch the world go round .<br/>Would definitely stay there again<br/><br/>No parking space as had to drop luggage off then go to car park at the top of bank but that goes for everyone in staithes due to delivery van going to shops and pub it's a narrow cobbles street so accept the fact

This is a lovely cottage in a magical place. The living accommodation is light, clean and spacious. There was a smell of fresh paint everywhere. There are comfortable sofas and a large TV in the seating area. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped. There is a bathroom for each bedroom which is really handy. The location is ideal, right in the middle of beautiful Staithes, two minutes stroll to the beach, gallery, shops and pubs.

Staithes looks a lovely place.<br/><br/>This place is FILTHY. We walked in looked around at left. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in Months. Fridge, floors, work surfaces, all kitchen ware, furniture, Showers just minging. Smells bad and damp. Even left us a turd in toilet. Host and Stay staff well scripted. No chance of a refund so do yourself a favour don't book this place. Even my spaniel couldn't wait to get out.

This spacious cottage had everything we needed in a beautiful location at the heart of Staithes. It was spotlessly clean! The large kitchen had everything you could possibly need if cooking at home. We enjoyed watching the new 43 inch smart TV after returning from the George or the Cod. We loved sitting in the morning sunshine on the bench outside, watching the world go by. The bedrooms are large with plenty of storage space and although the headspace is tight at the top of the stairs is a little low the top floor is light and airy. Two bathrooms as well! We will be back!

Brunswick was located in a great position in the beautiful Staithes, you can get away with parking overnight outside on the street, but during the day the parking is up a steep hill, but the cost of this parking was reasonable and there was always space available. We would recommend the Royal George Pub, Cod and Lobster and especially Dotties tea room, all within 3 minutes walk. <br/>Great place to stay and would stay there again.

24/04/2024

Great location,<br/><br/>A bit awkward unloading luggage on street as there is very limited spaces and you only get 40 mins before you have to move car to carpark up the hill. Accessing the bedroom in the attic was a bit dangerous as the ceiling is very low, could do with a warning sign. A bit shabby inside. Could do with a deep clean.

Brunswick cottage is lovely and everything you see in the photos. Overall very happy with our stay. I would just add that they do charge you £25 as a damage waver after you made your booking that is none refundable. This should really be add at the time you are making your booking. Once we’d paid this we were sent clear check instructions and you can park right outside for 40mins while you unload your bags. Then you have to park up at the top of the village in a paid car park (typical Staithes). It wasn’t noted anywhere when we arrived that we needed to switch on the hot water and didn’t know this until we went to take a shower. Once we’d switched the water on and given it time to warm up we had plenty of hot water. I would also say overall the property was clean, bedding and towels were fine but some areas clearly hadn’t been dusted in a while. Overall we would stay again.

Host & Stay take £250 deposit, and take £10 off this for the pleasure. They state it's for your "peace of mind". In fact, I spent my time there worrying that I'd be blamed for the things we found on arrival - shower door completely broken, fixtures in upstairs bathroom broken from the wall, loo roll holder, towel rails. A company that palms £10 off a deposit, a deposit they scam you into firstly, would, I am sure, try and withhold the £250 for these things. When one hires a car, existing damage is inspected with an agent. Here they just let you walk into uncertainty.<br/>The hot water in the property needs to go on 1 hour before you need it. this info is buried in the reams of information that you need to access through the QR code on a device, not clearly warning you. After a day of hiking in the rain, I really would have liked a hot shower before bed<br/>Avoid Host & Stay properties.

Nice and spacious, good location. Well equipped. Ideal base for exploring the coast.<br/><br/>House was clean but from entering the house smelt of damp dog and was worse the higher you went up. <br/>Also didn't like having to use a third party for a £250 breakage deposit which we were charged a £10 admin fee for the privilege. The price should be as shown on booking.com and not have hidden extras. Most just hold your details and do not literally take your money out! and then you have to wait over a week to be refunded.

Location perfect <br/>Very warm and cosy<br/><br/>Loft room difficult to access via steep stairs and very low roof although can’t really be changed.<br/>Uncomfortable settee in the lounge and unable to watch TV comfortably from it. Seating area could be configured differently. Clean inside, but velux window in lounge and outside at the front filthy. Needs a good sweep/clean.

Spacious and comfortable with everything you need. 2 bathrooms which was fabulous and meant children had own attic area!,bedroom and bathroom plus sitting area.<br/><br/>I'm 5ft 4ins tall and I had to watch my head going into the attic space. HOWEVER!! Bedroom and bathroom in the attic are of standard ceiling height so no problem there.

The location of the cottage was excellent the size of the property was adequate the facilities basic but ok<br/><br/>We were unsure of how to work the central heating on arrival and the instructions were not readily available so this took us some time to work out the cottage was very cold . The Cottage is in need of some TLC peeling paint, a leg broken on the sofa , and the velux window in the loft was damaged none of these are difficult to repair so we are unsure as to why they have not been maintained the exterior of the property needs sweeping and maintaining. I was not happy that I had to pay a £25 non refundable damage waiver fee but the alternative of them charging £250 to my account for 14 days was not acceptable particularly when we noticed within 30 minutes of our arrival damages I can imagine the fight we would have had had I not notified them immediately.

Kitchen was excellent every appliance and touches you needeed. Heating down stairs and first floor excellent good hot water<br/><br/>Top floor is up a very narrow and illegal staircase...you have to go up crouching..impossible for elderle. top floor heating barely reaches and in landing room there is no heating. Bathroom fitted in is 1200mm and too narrow and also dangerous. As cottage is in consevation area single glazed window in loft bedroom are contimually misted up and during the night water is running down. There are also damp patches on the roof. the beding was clean on the first floor but in the loft room was marked. If I was just using the first floor I would have rated the cottage 9/10 but the top floor is very poor and not habutal and safe t access.

Being in the heart of Staithes was fantastic and meant only a short stroll to enjoy this picturesque village. The property was spacious enough for a couple, but not really suitable for a family as the facilities would have been incredibly limiting.<br/><br/>Read all of the other reviews! This property was clearly once a jewel in the heart of Staithes but it's now tired, neglected and frayed around the edges. All of the decor and facilities badly need some TLC! It was all of the nice touches you expect from a good holiday home which were not there. No welcome pack, light bulbs missing or broken, a hotch potch of crockery and kitchenalia, a tiny television, a dirty front exterior and rotting doorframe, mouldy shower, springy uncomfortable beds, cramped spaces poorly laid out, a dirty/dingy inaccessible side door, dirty skylight windows- just everything about the place said 'unloved' and its very clear the owners (who are attempting to sell the property to you while you're staying there) had enough of the place some time ago. Such a shame because as I said at the start, it was obviously once a really beautiful place to stay, but would need a LOT of work to get it back to that again.

The property is a really good size, makes use of the space very well and is very well equipped. The location is excellent on Staithes High Street, just yards from shops, pubs and the beach. Overall, it’s a very good house and we had a great week.<br/><br/>There are a couple of negatives. The property exterior looks very tired and could with a refresh. On arrival we found the bottom of the fridge was full of water and the stairs noticeably hadn’t been vacuumed, although the rest of the house was very clean. The mattress in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable and is clearly very old. I have stayed in Staithes many times and on most occasions they come with at least one parking permit; unfortunately that meant we had to pay to park two cars for a week at the main car park, which was an added cost. Finally, the price advertised is not accurate. Host and Stay make you pay either a £25 waiver for any damage during your stay, or you have to leave a refundable deposit with a fixed £10 admin fee. So you have to pay the extra whether you break anything or not, which is very poor. These relatively minor negatives are a shame for what is in the round a lovely property in a fantastic location.

The location<br/><br/>No welcome pack. Very uncomfortable bed on the top floor, needs a topper on the mattress as you could feel all the springs. The whole property needs a deep clean, filthy bannister, some of the kitchen cupboards dirty etc. settees were very uncomfortable. The television was rediculously tiny for the size of the room. The kitchen floor was filthy and uneven.

Paul

The house smelt of dog. The front of the house was disgusting, the door frame rotten. The sofas were stained. Kitchen Table needs to go to the tip! Windows dirty. Velux window didn’t even close, it’s broken. Main shower needs a good bleach! Front door mat needs putting in the bin, it was filthy!

I've rented multiple properties through Airbnb, and have always left very positive reviews, until this one. Maybe things have deteriorated further since the last few reviews but this property is not good. <br/>When you walk in, you notice the musty smell and it looks and feels unloved. There’s even a sign from an estate agent pointing out that the owner is looking to sell the property. <br/>The furniture is different from the pictures and is very old. Most of the lights/dimmers either didn’t work or were missing bulbs The TV, is old and the size of a PC monitor. The mattresses are so old with zero support that you feel the bed base slats and/or springs in your back. I had to stuff towels underneath to try and sleep on it! One of the plugs was coming off the wall...I could go on.<br/>Lastly Host and Stay were completely unwilling to help, making me go through some remote phone call operators and refusing to speak to me directly. Totally different experience from dealing with a property owner.

Location was perfect the house had everything you require but since we spent the majority outside we didn't use any of the facilities. So all in all just a please to sleep & wash<br/><br/>My son & myself are over 6 ft so the onsuite in the attic was no good with the shelf in the way. We could not find the visitors book to sign. The place was clean but it wasn't a good clean just a flash over. Wee in the shower room toilet. Maybe as the place is up for sale that due care & attention wasn't taken.

29/08/2023

Dirty and run down very disappointed. The area around the front door is shocking. The whole property needs a serious clean. I would have been happy just to leave but as my husband had paid £300 for the 2 night stay I stayed. The parking is a joke no where close to the property. The nearest car park is up a VERY steep hill and is 10.00 for 24 hrs. We tried to pay at the carpark which wasn't possible as you had to use the internet and guess what no connection. We had to go back down the hill to log onto the cottage WiFi to pay the 10.00 fee then go back up to park. Do your research before you visit.

Instructions from host and stay were clear. We arrived and the cottage was clean. We were impressed by the location as it was very central. It was roomy and the living areas were lovely - of particular note was the facilities washer, dryer, dishwasher lots of crockery very well facilitated. The upstairs was spacious with lovely bedrooms and containing both a bath and shower. We were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this place to stay in Staithes.

Staithes is lovely, the cottage was well positioned. The kitchen seemed new, so fittings were good. The bed I slept in on the very top floor was clean and comfortable. The bedrooms were lovely and the best part of the cottage. The bathrooms and towels were good with nice toiletries provided.<br/><br/>The table was in the way when 4 adults were trying to move around. The stairs carpet and rug needed hoovering, there were white dog hairs on the rug. The cottage was generally lacking attention and needs a thorough clean. Mugs needed bleaching or renewing. Wires across the lounge floor area near back door (and cobwebs). Sofas not big enough for 4 adults and not comfy. No welcome pack. Outside, the wood around the front door is rotting and needs replacing. The yard area needs regular sweeping and maintaining.

Amber

02/08/2023

In need of some TLC! Thick cobwebs in the corners, a number of lights not working in central areas including the kitchen and living room. Requires a good deep clean and some general maintenance to bring this property up to the price you pay to stay. Disappointed. Excellent location and has the potential to be a well loved and well looked after holiday cottage.<br/><br/>Cleanliness - thick cobwebs, general maintenance of the property requires review. Windows inside and out require cleaning and maintenance. Number of lights not working, small things that build up to make a difference

16/07/2023

The cottage is easy to find and accessible with car parking for bag drop off directly outside. Staithes is a fabulous place to visit! The cottage looks as it does on the photos, perhaps interiors could do with being updated, a new TV as it was very small and old fashioned, plus no Bluetooth speaker, but overall it was just what we needed for our stay. <br/>Being managed by an agency you don’t get the nice personal feel through communication but they send all the info you need. There may be nicer cottages in Staithes and it’s a shame this needs a bit of love but value for money was fine, I would return.

Brunswick Cottage is right in the middle of the beautiful village of Staithes, you really couldn't ask for a lovelier location. The cottage really could be very lovely with a little TLC and a bit of care and attention. I did report the lightbulbs that were out, the batteries that were missing from the remote, the full rubbish bin, messy outside and dirty skylights to Host and Stay so I hope these things have been fixed for the next holidaymakers. Have to say though that the bathrooms were clean, the bedding was fresh and everywhere was tidy so no complaints, I just hope the new owners spruce it up a bit. Staithes is gorgeous, so easy to access the stunning coastline...just remember earplugs as the gulls can be a bit noisy on a night!!

The property location was excellent, right in the heart of the village. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely, bright and clean even though they were small. The lounge in the roof was a very nice relaxing space to sit in the sun. <br/>The lounge and kitchen were open plan and adequately stocked.<br/><br/>The outside of the property was dirty. The windows had a lot of dust and grime and hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. <br/>The key safe, which we couldn’t avoid touching was covered in bird droppings and as the cottage had been recently cleaned for our arrival we couldn’t understand why the key safe was so filthy. <br/>The TV in the bedroom didn’t work - the remote had no batteries.<br/>The Portable TV in the lounge was small and old. (In this day and age I would expect a Smart TV). <br/>There was a small bench at the front of the cottage which would have been a nice place to sit and have a coffee or relaxing drink but it was so old and dirty we didn’t risk it!

Darren

25/06/2023

Before I start, just look at all my reviews. I dont do bad ones. The best way to describe the premises downstairs was that somebody had bought an empty property and had all the furniture donated by many sources. All looking past their best. Green couch, glass kitchen table with plastic chairs and a tv so small I mistook for a PC monitor. Everywhere need a good clean. Upstairs was much better. Two real annoying points I want to highlight: 1. being instructed upon leaving that we have strip all the beds and get all the towels and carrying them down two flights of stairs is a joke. Especially when one is the tightest, lowest spiral staircase I have ever seen. The 2nd and worst was the sneaky little £250 extra you have to pay, and get charged £10 for the privilege. This is for damaged insurance and unless you look at the smallest writing on the page and then click on terms then scroll all the way down, you wouldnt know until you try and get code for key lock and then its too late to cancel

Ann

18/06/2023

Not a lot. Ground floor was dark outside of property was very dirty and therefore not suitable to sit there. Access to upper bedroom was very difficult due to the very low ceiling at the head of the stairs and we are small people.<br/><br/>Cleanliness. Kitchen equipment. Overall feeling of neglect throughout the property.

Very spacious,2 bathroom spaces were a bonus<br/><br/>Only downside if your not particularly mobile is the lack of parking ( must park at top of the hill at £10 for 24 hrs) but it’s a trade off that’s worth it for a wonderful location in my book and makes it for a more peaceful stay !

Lovely cottage in a great location in an amazing place. Modern kitchen and bathrooms, well decorated, immaculately clean. Plenty of utensils to keep you going until you have enough to fill dishwasher. Kept nice and warm once figured heating out. Tea, coffee and sugar were there to get us started if we had forgot to bring. Plenty of cleaning products available. Shower was nice and powerful with plenty of space. Would highly recommend as a place to stay.<br/><br/>Main thing didn't like was the company that hosts. Advertised as fully refundable deposit on booking.com (may have now changed) but they kept £10. Also said taken on arrival but they wanted it 14 days before the stay. Very poor hosting if someone is planning a trip on a budget. Office not helpful at all when contacted them about it.<br/>With regards the property, only minor things, sofa not the comfiest, made more uncomfortable when trying to watch tv due to angle had to sit at. Didn't go to watch tv but could have done with a slightly bigger one for on an evening. The upper floor has a few very low ceilings, i'm fairly tall at 6ft 1, to be confident wouldn't bang head going up stairs would climb the last few on knees, not a show stopper but something to consider if taller or not able to bend going up the stairs

The location was great, right on the high street. Clean beds and bathrooms too.<br/><br/>I didn’t actually realise that the property was pet friendly, but when we put the heating on the dog smell was awful. As we are not dog owners it was not very comfortable and it irritated my daughters chest. There was still large dog hairs on the sofa too. it needs deep cleaning in between checkins to ensure that the dog smell is minimised. Just an FYI the toaster needs replacing too as it is faulty on one side and the velux window is also faulty on the top floor and when it’s windy it’s really noisy.

location excellent! comfortable bed.<br/><br/>needs updating. it’s an old property so appreciate the problems that arise with this. cottage would have been excellent if cleaner. There were dog biscuits on the floor when we arrived. I hung my coat on chair in kitchen as it was wet (weather) and the next day there were snail slime marks up my coat. mould around the shower. crockery was not clean which I couldn’t understand as there was a dishwasher. Only needs a good clean!

Really great stay! The cottage was gorgeous, with some great little touches and we found Staithes to be adorable! <br/>Parking at the top car park was fine and the walk up/down the hill wasn’t bad at all. If you can avoid taking your car into the village at all I would advise it - on arrival we had to reverse multiple times which wasn’t a problem for us but if you don’t like reversing it could make your arrival a bit stressful. <br/>Make sure you visit the deli (Betsy & Bo), it’s a treasure trove and the lady who runs it is really friendly and helpful. Also Cod & Lobster is a must - the food was delicious. <br/>Overall absolutely wonderful and we will definitely be recommending to our friends and family.

Came back yesterday after a 2 night stay, the bin at the front of the cottage was overflowing and the lid would not shut when we arrived so on leaving we just had to leave our rubbish on the bench next to the bin, didn't look good when we arrived but looks even worse now for the next arrivals so sorry about that, the upstairs bathroom that our friends were using had no toilet seat at all, the wood has rotted at the front door so we ended up extracting a slug from the kitchen floor so don't come down without footwear for fear of standing on one, take your own toilet roll (you will need it). The cottage inside is not very relaxing as it is all kitchen with very little space to sit and relax, the T.V. is the size of a small computer screen so if you wear glasses i suggest you take them, beds were very comfortable on the up side but that's about it and i would take all your food requirements as nothing available in the village, make sure you book in advance for meals in the pubs, Cod and Lobster food was lovely but we couldn't book on the Friday for the Saturday as already booked solid so both nights had to sit outside and wait to see if they had a spare space (they did and the food was worth waiting for) but if you have children with you it's not ideal.

Location is superb. Very Modern. Love the top bedroom with separate landing space for reading. Complimentary milk and tea bags. Wifi from fibre 22Mb line which was good for netflixing.<br/><br/>By stating "Parking" - i thought this meant free parking. But this is £10 per day at a private car park or £7 at a public unsecure car park next to a caravan park and Large pub. <br/>Second toilet seat missing. <br/>Living room after a day of raining can smell heavy musty/damp in the evening which was uncomfortable. Upstairs was totally fine. <br/>Shower cubicle has spots of mould around grouting. <br/>Both TVs has no HDMI cable

quirky and in fab location<br/><br/>was not in good state of repair, broken door, <br/>broken chair, hole in sofa cover. <br/><br/>Had not been cleaned well, had to wipe down the sofa and clean many of the plates and glasses before use.<br/><br/>this could and should be such a fab little cottage, was really disappointing.

Excellent location, on the High Street, 1 minute walk to a nice pub, the beach and harbour. <br/> Very well equipped kitchen and living room area stocked up with some board games. <br/> Attic bedroom is over some steep and narrow steps so be prepared to crouch before going to bed ?<br/> Of course, as most people mentioned, cleanliness is an issue and the cottage could benefit of a spruce up. <br/> All in all, we had a great time over a long weeekend and we would recommend it to others. ( 4 adults, 1 infant and a small whippet )

Kitchen and outside needs a good clean. You can't load your car to leave as others who are inconsiderate don't obide the parking rules and leave cars parked all night and we'll after 9am so you can't load up to leave by 10am. The good points are, bathroom and bedrooms clean, pubs are good and serve good food and it's a good location for exploring but unfortunately I would not stay at Brunswick again.

The location was fantastic. Staithes is lovely with great places to eat and lovely little shops. Runswick Bay was even nicer so good base to explore.<br/><br/>The house was quite dark and pokey. It was fine as only needed for a base but could do with brightening up. Sofa needs replacing and the layout downstairs didn't work for me. However, the seagulls were so loud it really affected our sleep. Something to consider if you're a light sleeper. This ruined our stay as it was so bad.

Beautiful little cottage full of character. Excellent location and very clean.<br/><br/>The bed wasn't the best, felt like it's had its best day. <br/>As there's no where for breakfast in Staithes, unless you wait until 10-30 , I suggest taking your own frying pan .

Great location and modern appointed accommodation, worked well having two bathrooms for two couples. Just a short walk (less than 5 mins) to all the village pubs/cafes. Easy access to the Cleveland Way.<br/><br/>Parking space on change over day to load/unload was at a premium, But overall parking was fine if you use pre-booking through James. Didn’t have the need of the car all weekend as everything was in walking distance!

Brilliant location<br/><br/>The cottage is in desperate need of some TLC, the sofa is disgusting, it's so old and discolored with rips in it. The cottage had not been cleaned properly, cobwebs on the walls, sand on the sofa, dead flies on windowsill etc. Hand soap bottles have clearly being refilled for years, all had disgusting brown gunk built up on the necks of the bottles. Need a bigger tv downstairs, cannot see it from the sofa as it's such a strange angle.

I have no issue with the principle of charging healthy market rates for holiday properties in peak season ... but Brunswick Cottage fell very short of providing value for money.<br/><br/>I've already been in direct communication with the host company and they were very receptive to my feedback.<br/><br/>Poor cleanliness throughout ... anyone can surface clean and vacuum between guests, but this cottage is well overdue a deep clean, window clean, furniture update, has numerous defects to repair, all white goods need maintenance, kitchen equipment needs attention (broken dustpan, broken washing up bowl, lacks grater & chopping board), and previous guests' rubbish really shouldn't be left overflowing outside when new guests arrive.<br/><br/>Lots to improve upon here. Lovely village, helpful check-in instructions and parking assistance though.

This is my 4th stay in Staithes and second stay at Brunswick ...characterful, comfortable and great position. The bedrooms and bathrooms are superb. The kitchen is fully equipped. The lounge could be more spacious and better arranged but we were not in the cottage so much to worry about that. Local amenities, pubs, shops, cafes are all in easy reach and are excellent character for the brilliant village of Staithes.

Cottage was well equipped, clean and homely. Information given by letting company spot on. The Accomodation is on 3 floors. The middle floor bedroom was roomy, warm and comfortable, which we used, with adjoining toilet and shower room. The top floor bedroom, not used, has a low ceiling as it is an attic conversion so anyone over 5ft will have to watch their heads. But it has a bath and toilet room adjoining. The kitchen and living space on the ground floor is looking out onto the main street at ground level so make sure you wear clothes or keep the blinds down as some passers by walk down the steps, past your window and up the steps at the other side. The apartment is near the bottom of the high street, 50 yards from the Royal George pub and 100 yards from the Cod and Lobster pub. It is near the bridge which crosses the beck to cowbar.Location spot on.

The property was clean, but the windowsills were full of dead flies, the back courtyard area was absolutely revolting with dirt, rubbish and a terrible smell. Also, the skylight in the living area was full of bird mess. The top floor bedroom had no curtains or blackout blinds, this meant the room was flooded with the street lights. The beds were also uncomfortable due to being able to feel the springs. Sleeping on the sofa was much more comfortable. The property was listed on Booking.com as pet friendly but when we arrived we were told that they must stay downstairs and off the furniture, that is not being pet friendly and left our dogs with not much space as there was also no outside space. We would not book again because of these reasons.

Nice cottage all as described. Staithes is a pretty village but the hill is very steep so not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Would advise that you book tables at the pubs well before hand.

The cottage is ideally located in the centre of the village. It’s a beautiful, clean quirky place. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed playing cards around the kitchen table and kicking off our walking boots at the end of the day to relax on the sofa.
